Who should attend the course?


Our ATS Basic Training Course is the starting point for any Flight Information Service (FIS) Operator trainee and lays an excellent foundation for the successful candidate to progress to an Aerodrome Flight Information Service Rating Training Course.

Course summary

The course is designed as a first step towards a student FISO license. Our ATS Basic Training Course lays a foundation of theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills in accordance with regulation such as BL 6-96, BL 6-97 and Danish CAA ATS Common Core Content plus complies with EUROCONTROL specifications for the ATCO Common Core Content.

The content of the course covers aspects such as Air Traffic Management, Rules of the Air, Aircraft etc. required to perform as FISO. A national geography course may be delivered as part of the ATS Basic Training. The course contains basic simulation exercises supporting the trainee’s transfer of theoretical knowledge into practical skills.

The modular course design offers the opportunity to customise course content to meet customer requirements – please contact us to discuss options. In addition, we provide the opportunity for flying lessons enabling trainees to develop a wider and deeper perspective.

GATE aviation training academy and the ATS Basic Training Course are certified by the Danish Civil Aviation Authority in accordance with national regulation BL 6-96 and BL6-97.

Prerequisites

  • Class 2 medical certificate

Course Content

  • Theoretical topics in accordance with Danish CAA ATS Common Core Content, Initial Training such as Aviation Law, Navigation, Human Factors etc.
  • Content in compliance with EUROCONTROL’s Manual for Aerodrome Flight Information Service AFIS edition 1.0
  • Basic simulation exercises



Who should attend the course?


The objective of our Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) Rating Training Course is to enable the successful candidate to receive a student Aerodrome Flight Information Service Operator license.

Course summary

The candidate at the centre of our training concept, we use modern learning principles and proven pedological techniques to provide candidates with high-class theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to receive a student Aerodrome Flight Information Service Operator license.

The AFIS Course is divided into phases. Each phase contains theoretical training followed by practical training. We blend the theoretical and practical training to ensure candidates can apply theoretical knowledge in the AFIS Tower environment.

Simulation during the course will gradually increase in the degree of difficulty. We will train IFR and VFR traffic handling, low visibility, Emergencies and more. GATE will incorporate ‘special operations / events’ in order to meet the absolute best simulation and preparation for the candidate’s unit training.

Course Content

  • Content in compliance with EUROCONTROL’s Manual for Aerodrome Flight Information Service AFIS edition 1.0
  • Simulation exercises in an AFIS Tower environment in compliance with Danish CAA ATS Common Core Content, Initial Training Module 10
  • Language assessment for English phraseology



Who should attend the course?


The Meteorological Weather Observer training course will enable successful participants to progress towards practical OJT for weather observatory training.

Course summary

The Meteorological Weather Observer training course will provide the participants with the skills and knowledge required to make fully compliant and accurate aviation weather reports.

The training is compliant with the Danish Meteorological Institute syllabus and designed as a 5-day course containing 35 hours theoretical training blended with practical observations to apply theoretical skills in practice.

The Meteorological Weather Observer training includes a final examination which is conducted by the Danish Meteorological Institute. The successful completion will enable participants to progress towards practical OJT for weather observatory training.

GATE aviation training academy is certified by the Danish Civil Aviation Authority in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) 2105/340.

Prerequisites

  • In compliance with World Meteorology Office (WMO) regulation
  • In accordance with the Danish Meteorological Institute approved Aerodrome Weather Observer Course syllabus
